Process Discovery & Roadmap

Business process discovery and automation roadmap for SMEs in India

The Discovery Sprint is a fixed-price, 1–2 week study of how your business actually runs. It is for owners and COOs of firms with roughly 10–500 staff who know work is slow but cannot say exactly where the hours go. You get a process map, a cost of the friction in rupees, a ranked list of fixes, and a roadmap in the order you should do them. It costs ₹1–3 lakh ($1,200–3,500) and is credited in full against a pilot if you go ahead. It starts after a free 60-minute AI Opportunity Audit, so you only pay for the Sprint if the audit shows there is enough to find.

Who this is for

  • Owners of firms with 10–500 staff where the work runs on Tally, Excel, WhatsApp and a few people's memory.
  • COOs who have been quoted for an ERP, a custom app or an “AI solution” and want an independent view before spending.
  • Family businesses planning a handover, where the process needs to be written down and simplified first.
  • Companies that bought an automation tool or ERP module and it stalled because the process underneath was never fixed.
  • Firms with a UAE branch or back office that want one clear picture across both locations before changing anything.

What we build

  • A current-state process map: who does what, in which system (Tally, Sheets, WhatsApp, email, ERP), and where work waits.
  • A friction-cost sheet: hours per week spent on re-keying, chasing, checking and fixing, priced at your actual staff cost. Our assumptions are shown, not hidden.
  • A data-readiness check: what lives in Tally, POS, Sheets or your ERP, and whether it is clean and complete enough to automate or report on.
  • A ranked opportunity register: every fix scored on money saved, how hard it is, and what could go wrong.
  • A buy-not-build list: where a cheap off-the-shelf tool or a setting you already pay for solves the problem, so you do not hire us for it.
  • A sequenced roadmap: what to do first, what to do later, what to leave alone, with rough costs in INR and USD.
  • A fixed-price pilot proposal for the top item, with a written success metric you can hold us to.

Typical scope

A Sprint usually covers two or three departments that touch each other, such as sales, dispatch and accounts, or enquiry, quotation and billing. We interview the people doing the work, sit with them for a few hours, and pull sample data from Tally, Sheets and whatever else you use. The Sprint is not an ERP selection, not a software build, and not a slide deck that sits in a drawer; every item on the roadmap has a cost and a next step. If your problem is one clear task you already understand, such as sending overdue-payment reminders, you do not need a Sprint. A reminder feature inside Zoho Books or Tally, or a small automation, will do, and we will say so in the free audit.

What you receive

  • Process map as a PDF and an editable file your team can keep updating.
  • Friction-cost workbook with your numbers and our assumptions side by side.
  • Opportunity register, ranked, with a one-line reason for each rank.
  • Roadmap with sequence, owner, dependency and cost band for each step.
  • Pilot proposal with scope, price, timeline and success metric.
  • A readout session with the owner and department heads, plus a written summary.

Process Discovery & Roadmap: questions owners ask

How much does the Discovery Sprint cost, and what if we do not go ahead?

The Sprint is a fixed fee of ₹1–3 lakh ($1,200–3,500), depending on how many departments and systems we cover. If you go ahead with a pilot, the full Sprint fee is credited against it. If you do not, you keep every document and can use it with any vendor, including your existing Tally or Zoho partner. There is no retainer or lock-in attached to it.

Do we need to replace Tally or our ERP before doing this?

No. The Sprint works with what you have. Most of the fixes we find sit around Tally, not inside it: re-typing data from WhatsApp into Tally, chasing approvals, building the same Excel report every week. If the Sprint does show that your core software is the real bottleneck, we say so, and we list cheaper options before a replacement.

Is the free audit not enough? When is a Sprint the wrong choice?

The free 60-minute AI Opportunity Audit gives you a written Opportunity Map with the three or four most likely areas to fix. That is often enough for a firm with one obvious problem. A Sprint is the wrong choice if you already know the exact task to automate, if your team is under ten people, or if you only want a quote for software. It is the right choice when the problem spans departments and nobody can say where the time goes.

Why pay for discovery instead of just starting a pilot?

Because most Indian MSMEs are using AI tools in some form but very few have put them to work in their core operations. A Dun & Bradstreet report (BEOT 2026) found three in four MSMEs use AI in some form, but only 5% place it at the core of operations (https://www.dnb.co.in/files/reports/BEOT-2026-Publication.pdf). The gap is usually a process and data problem, not a tool problem. The Sprint finds that gap before you spend ₹3–10 lakh on a pilot, and the fee is credited anyway.

What happens after the Sprint?

You choose. The roadmap lists the first pilot with a fixed price in the ₹3–10 lakh ($3,500–12,000) band, 4–8 weeks, and a written success metric. You can run that pilot with Azerlia, with another vendor, or with your own team using the documents. If you do continue with us, ongoing support after the pilot is a retainer from ₹1 lakh/month ($1,200/month), and you can stop it with notice.
